Chili Cook-Off

Pelican Lake Motorcoach Resort recently held their 3rd Annual Chili Cookoff Contest. Eighteen different chilis were provided by residents of the resort and over 100 people “tested” samples of all the different chilis. They voted on their favorites and the votes were tallied to determine the top three choices. Custom trophies & prizes were awarded to the three winners. This year, the committee felt it was important to “give back” to the community by holding a raffle drawing for prizes and a 50/50. The committee decided that the money raised from the raffle should be donated to local charities who provide food, shelter and other assistance to local residents in need. They chose St. Matthews House and Our Daily Bread as the recipients and a total of $1100 was split between the two charities as a result of the evening’s event.  

The Pelican Lake Chili Cookoff Committee would like to thank the following merchants who provided gift cards for raffle prizes: Texas Roadhouse, Frankie’s Italian Deli, Brooks Burgers, Pei Wei, Chili’s, Pet Supermarket, Dolphin Auto Spa, Bealls Department Store and Coral Isle Driving Range. These businesses were very generous in their donations and we encourage our friends and neighbors to show their appreciation for this support.
